Clara's extraordinary palate and relentless perfectionism shape the final character of every AAF expression.
Clara Engström grew up on the remote Swedish island of Gotland, where the stark beauty of the Baltic landscape instilled in her a deep appreciation for purity and subtlety. After earning her master's in sensory science, she spent years training her palate across Scotland, Japan, and Mexico.
As AAF's Master Blender, Clara is responsible for the final profile of every product. She works with hundreds of individual distillates and macerations, combining them with a precision that borders on the obsessive.
"Blending is composition," Clara says. "Each component is like a note in a chord. My job is to find the harmony — the moment when everything sings together."
Clara's palate is insured and she maintains a rigorous sensory training regimen. She can identify over 400 individual aroma compounds by nose alone.
